Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali, born in 1904, was a Spanish artist whose career was spread across more than 60 years of his 84 year long life during which he created a legacy that has left a mark on our modern art world.

Known best for his surrealism, Dali was also famed for his flamboyant nature and his famous upturned moustache which, collectively, made him a focus for attention. Dali took the unseen and unimaginable and made it visible for the world to see through his artwork. There are several museums dedicated solely to him and his works such as the Salvador Dali Museum in Florida and the Dali Theatre and Museum. Salvador Dali's piece named "Portrait de Paul Éluard" estimated to sell at Sotheby's in 2011 between £3,500,000 and £5,000,000 yet realised an impressive £13,481,250.
