Pablo Picasso, the Spanish artist born in 1881, studied at the La Lonja art school in Barcelona and eventually established a studio in Paris then moved to France where he lived until his death in 1973.
Painter, sculptor, photographer, printmaker, designer, playwright and poet, Picasso created unmatched masterpieces and co-invented collage and Cubism which has remained notable in 21st Century art. During the Blue Period at the start of the 1900s, his artworks contained features from Parisian life including poverty and loneliness. The Rose Period followed which presented more lyrical content such as acrobats and jugglers. Subsequently, his transition to Cubism was the style that inflated his success during his career and following his death. Picasso's piece named "Femme au béret et à la robe quadrillée" sold at Sotheby's in 2018 for a shocking £49,827,000.
